Overview
Brands using Pietra Fulfillment by Pietra (FBP) can offer Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping for international orders placed on Shopify. This setup ensures that duties and taxes are paid upfront, reducing customs delays and improving the customer experience.
To qualify for DDP shipping, your inventory must be stored and fulfilled from Pietra’s fulfillment center.
Steps to Set Up DDP Shipping
1. Install the DHL Shopify App & Assign Rates
Go to the Shopify App Store and install the DHL Duty and Tax Calculator app.
Open the app in Shopify and navigate to the Products tab.
For each product, update:
HS Code
Country of Origin
Click Shipping Rates > Add Rate to set up the rates you want to charge customers at checkout.
💡 Note: Pietra charges you shipping fees based on our rate card, but you can set your own rates in Shopify. The rates you assign will be visible to customers at checkout.
2. Enable the Duty and Tax Calculator in Shopify
In Shopify Settings, go to Shipping and Delivery.
Click on the applicable Shipping Profile.
Under Shipping Origins > International, ensure that the Duty and Tax Calculator (Rates provided by app) is enabled.
3. Update Carrier in Pietra’s Admin Portal
This step must be completed by a Pietra Operator.
A Pietra Operator will log in to the Pietra Admin Portal.
Navigate to the Brand’s Pietra account.
In the Shop Profile tab, click Show Advanced Features.
Under Store International Shipping Rates, select DHL DDP.
Once this setup is complete, DDP will be available as a shipping option for international customers at checkout.
