Before Pietra can receive and fulfill your inventory, each product needs to be linked to a unique SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) or SKU Variant. This ensures our warehouse team can correctly identify, store, and ship your items.
SKUs and SKU Variants
What is a SKU?
A SKU is a unique code assigned to each product variation (e.g., color, size, material). It acts as the “ID tag” for your product and must match what you send us physically.
What is a SKU Variant?
A SKU variant is a specific version of a product that differs by characteristics like size, color, or material. Each variant should have its own unique SKU.
For example:
Product: Gold Bracelet
Variant 1: Small → SKU:
BRANDBRACELET-GOLD-SMALL
Variant 2: Medium → SKU:
BRANDBRACELET-GOLD-MEDIUM
Variant 3: Large → SKU:
BRANDBRACELET-GOLD-LARGE
If you sell the same bracelet in silver, you'd create separate SKUs for each silver size as well.
How to Create SKUs in Pietra
Log in to the Creator Hub
Navigate to Fulfillment
Click on "Fulfillment" in the left-hand menu.
Select "Products" under Fulfillment.
Create a New Product Listing
Click “Add Product” or edit an existing product.
Upload photos, name your product, and add details like materials, sizing, and retail price.
Scroll Down to the Fulfillment Section
This is where you’ll assign a SKU to the product.
If your product comes in multiple variants—like different sizes, colors, or styles—Pietra makes this easy to set up:
Toggle the Variants switch to “Yes.”
Choose your first variant (e.g. Size) and add the options (e.g. Small, Medium, Large). Hit Enter after each option.
Optionally, add a second variant (e.g. Color) and its options.
Example:
BRACELET-GOLD-SMALL
BRACELET-GOLD-MEDIUM
BRACELET-GOLD-LARGE
Save the Product
Once your SKU(s) are created, click “Save”. These SKUs will now be visible under your Fulfillment > Products page.
Additional Best Practices
Use clear, logical SKU names that help you quickly identify the product.
Avoid duplicates — each SKU must be unique.
If you're sending pre-barcoded items, make sure the barcode matches the SKU you enter.
When completing Fulfillment Details, these details help Pietra's fulfillment center accurately store and ship your products:
Product Category: Choose the best match for your item.
HS Code: A Harmonized System (HS) code is an international product classification used for customs.
If you're not sure which code to use, you can look it up here or you a Google or ChatGPT search.
Country of Manufacturing: Where the item was made.
Unit Price: The cost per unit for this product.
Note: You do not need to enter your product's weight. Once your inventory arrives at the fulfillment center, Pietra's team will weigh each item to calculate shipping accurately.
Why this step matters
Creating SKUs is essential for:
Tracking inventory
Ensuring accurate picking and packing
Avoiding delays or receiving issues at the warehouse
Without a SKU assigned, our warehouse cannot receive your items into inventory.
