What is Kitting?

Kitting is a process that involves grouping, packaging, and delivering individual components or items as a single sellable item. Pietra is pleased to be able to provide this service to Pietra Fulfillment customers at our warehouse distribution center. Order Kitting helps to save time, reduce costs, and reduce the possibility of errors during order fulfillment.

Below is the general process for kitting:

  1. Item Selection and Assembly: Various individual components are selected and assembled based on customer requirements or order specifications. For example, if a customer orders a product bundle that includes multiple items, these items are "kitted" together.

  2. Packaging: The assembled kit is then packaged into a single unit. This could involve placing the items in a single box, bag, or other types of packaging.

  3. Labeling: The final step involves labeling the package correctly for easy identification and efficient shipping.

Common examples of kitting include:

  • Subscription Boxes: Monthly subscription boxes that include a variety of items curated around a theme.

  • Product Bundles: Bundles of complementary products sold together, such as electronics with their accessories.

  • Promotional Kits: Marketing kits that include promotional materials and products

When does a request qualify as kitting?

Pietra's setup team will determine whether your items require kitting when supporting your product onboarding. Each individual request is unique, but we are generally able to accommodate a request as long as it does not require special tools or specialized skills.

What does Pietra charge for kitting?

Kitting charges are typically $1 per kitted unit, but these charges can vary depending on the complexity of the request. For example, a complex kitting request may be billed at a special project rate. The Pietra team determines whether an assembly request qualifies for kitting, and the expected charges for your assembly and kitting needs will be disseminated during your setup call.
